BUYERGENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe Buyer is responsible for contractually committing the company to the purchase of materials, supplies and capital items required for plant production, operation, and maintenance. This involves using the material usage and future material requirements provided by production to determine available inventory balances and execute purchase orders to satisfy the production schedule.ACCOUNTABILITYThe ideal candidate will be a self motivated worker with good communication skills that can function on their own as well as being a key part of a manufacturing team. They are directly accountable to the Vice President of Engineering.DUTIES Negotiate, prepare and issue purchase orders and changenotices. Perform all aspects of material requirement planning, inventory control and logistics. Manage relationships with key suppliers and vendors. Analyze supplier proposals for standard items/services for price, performance, capability, quality, delivery, and compliance with order terms. Select, develop and qualify new suppliers. Review receiving and approval of invoices. Expedite material as necessary. Provide other departments with current market price and delivery information.
