Job Summary

We have an opening in our B30 Pilot Plant team Upstream Team to execute a variety of production-related operations in a large-scale facility. The Pilot Plant performs GMP and non-GMP bioprocessing operations for multiple mammalian and microbial products to develop and demonstrate production processes and produce data for process transfer to clinical manufacturing, commercial support or technology development. The plant performs upstream activities (cell culture and fermentation), from vial thaw through large scale production. The environment is challenging and ever-changing, with varying degrees of process definition and frequent piloting of novel process operations.

Duties include working in the Upstream group performing process execution and support activities, such as media/buffer preparation, equipment set-up/cleaning and process monitoring, and sampling and product analysis. A significant amount of time will be spent performing 'hands-on' work in the plant lab performing production runs and technology development. Staff are expected to execute production runs, experiments, and characterization efforts, define and document operation practices, ensuring documentation accurately reflects operations performed, implementing area improvements, commissioning equipment, and participating in operations meetings. The position will require working weekends on a consistent basis.

Basic Qualifications:

Master's Degree

OR

Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of Manufacturing & Operations experience

OR

Associate's degree and 6 years of Manufacturing & Operations experience

OR

High school diploma/GED and 8 years of Manufacturing & Operations experience

Preferred Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degrees in Biology, Chemistry, chemical/biological engineering or relevant field
* 3 years of experience in Life Sciences field
* Basic knowledge of upstream operations and/or cell culture
* General knowledge of the associated analytical and media/buffer preparation techniques
* Energetic and technically-minded individuals, with strong interpersonal and organizational skills
* Demonstrated ability to learn new systems and applications, and various cell culture techniques
* Work effectively in team and/or project environments
* Strong math and computer skills, as well as the ability to apply science-based thinking to practical applications
