Plans, controls and manages data as a resource in support of Pima County JTED functions under the direction of the Director of Data, IT Director, and Administration. Establishes database design standards, access and security measures. Reviews software for data and information management for the Pima County JTED and develops data visualize tools and dashboards. Setup and manage information in the student information system. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: The list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented. Researches and develops functional database systems, database design and structure for multiple systems in the JTED central campuses integrating and optimizing components of the systemsUses data analytics and data visualization tools to develop dashboards with business intelligence/statistical analysis software (i.e. Tableau, STATA, SPSS, PR, or ERP experience)Manages all aspects of the Pima County JTED Microsoft SQL server databasesEnsures managed Pima County JTED virtual and physical databases are operational, the data is secure, and that data integrity is maintained within the confines of the databaseDevelops, implements, and manages PowerSchool data integration with the JTED registration system and the current SIS (PowerSchool)Assists with data integration with the Pima County JTED Central Campuses placement and concentrator database systemSetup and manage information in the student information system, performs administrative tasks, request of the SIS, and pull data as needed from the SISDevelops and implements procedures for database backup and recovery, including recovery from catastrophic critical system failures, works with other areas of the department to ensure proper and timely backing up of the database and logs, recovers from system and database failures in a timely fashionWorks with other members of the IT department and the Enrollment services team to ensure consistency and efficiency in implementing policies, process, and procedures developed for database managementAssists with data projects and provides data reports based on the needs of the Pima County JTED administrationIntegrates maintenance of existing database systems with new developments, including releases, upgrades and patchesAssists in the development and organization of all district database, assessment and implementation of new technologies, and provides a long-term perspective on the relationship of database technology to the business opportunities facing the Pima County JTEDWorks with the Enrollment services team to ensure the student online registration meets the needs of the SIS databaseWorks with the Google Admin console, Windows Server 2016, Canvas integration, and Clever to ensure synchronization of PowerSchool and Active Directory (GADS) services are functioning properlyResponsible for insuring best practices and appropriate governance structures are maintained and enforcedPerforms other related duties as requiredQualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum Qualifications/Education and/or Experience:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or comparable degree and experience administering databases requiredKnowledge of analysis techniques and system analysis designUnderstanding of data visualization and dashboard designKnowledge of data integration, extortion, and transformation techniquesKnowledge of SQL server tuning and query optimizationKnowledge of IT database operations and demonstrating a strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practicesExperience with HTML, CMS, CCS, PHP, SQL SPSS, and MySQLExperience working with online survey tools to create surveys, analyze, and report resultsVerbal and written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructionsProof of immunity to rubeola (measles), or MMR immunization verification (required if born after January 1, 1957)Negative TB test within the last yearMust possess a valid Arizona drivers licenseMust pass a fingerprint background check
Mental Tasks: Communicates, comprehends, composes and calculates written materials. Performs functions from written and oral instructions. Analytical problem solving skills, creative thought process, and troubleshooting. Physical Tasks: Indoors/outdoors, some evenings. Outdoors when working with the IT department for other duties as required, ability to lift up to 75 pounds, and exposure to loud noise. Office environment, frequent contact with teachers, site and central administrators, as well as partner district representatives. Works and communicates from within and outside the department.
